Moama Pasifika 2010

Pacific Unity Sporting Tournament

Kia Ora Everyone,

On behalf of Moana Pasifika I would like to thank all of you for participating in the Perths Pacific Unity Sporting Tournament 2010.

Congratulations to our winners of the Touch Footy - Lolly Boys - and to our Netball Champs - Woola Woola Koolunga Divison One, Tainui 2 Division Two and Woola Woola Koolunga Social Division.

To everyone who participated, you should all be proud of yourselves! Even though most of my day was spent being the "Hooter" (Beeeoooooooop), when I had the opportunity to sit back and take a look at what was happening, it became clear that even though this tournament is young, it has truly has become a community event, reflecting hope, unity and harmony for all peoples!

To all spectators, mums, dads, partners & supporters - Thank you for supporting your teams and creating an awesome atmosphere! To the Kids -You guys rocked and we may even look at making Tunnel Ball and official sport next year for your guys :)

To all of the Umpires and Referees. You play such an intergral part of setting the standard of play for our Tournament. The biggest compliment you can receive is the thumbs up from the players (even the ones who give you cheek) and I received nothing but positive feedback from all of our participants! Thank you for making the Tournament a great experience for both the players and the spectators, and I look forward to seeing you all again next year!!

I received alot of "Thanks" on the weekend for the tournament, but I want to let everyone know that I may stand at the front of the waka (with the microphone) steering, but I would have absolutley no momentum if I didn't have the team of volunteers paddling hard behind me. I personally would like to thank all of the volunteers, the individual community groups that were selling food & drinks, the performance groups and the stall holders, and Mandurah Netball Association, this event could not have been a success with out the help of you, so I sincerely thank you all. And to my number one supporters, my Husband Mark and my two children Nathan and Georgia, thank you for being so understanding and allowing me to invest the amount of time into something that I am so passionate about, without you, this concept would have never left the idea box.

The photo's from the day will be put up on our website next week, so to see if your "famous" head to www.moanapasifika.org.
